Drivers Licence Verification South Africa

Posted By admin On 02/09/21

During the early 1990's the Department of Home Affairs implemented a new algorithm, which saw the change of all South African's identity numbers. Prior to this, identity numbers ended in a number sequence of 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, etc. New identity numbers now end in 081, 082, 083, etc. Unfortunately, many people have not yet applied for the new bar-coded identity document and still make use of the old identity document still bearing the old identity number. This may cause the identity number no longer reflecting correctly or verifying.

Verification requirements: Motor vehicle or driving licence transactions Listen What this means is that any person or body of persons (companies or organisations) must submit proof of full names, ID or business number and residential and postal address before any registering authority can issue a motor vehicle licence disc or operator card. Quick Identity Verification via SMS. ID Numbers for children (ages from 0 -18) will not provide any data in the return due to the child protection act but will return whether the ID number is VALID not. Any Zimbabwean driver who is employed to drive a heavy commercial vehicle in South Africa must be a holder of a Defensive Driving Certificate (DDC) in addition to his Zimbabwean issued driver’s licence. The DDC is valid for four (4) years. Drivers who are in contravention of this shall be guilty of an offence and liable to either a fine.

With this service, registered members can lookup the new identity number issued to an individual. Results are based on our own verifications conducted the past 13 years. Where we do not have any information available, we will assist members in ensuring the identity number is verified and new identity number updated. Please note that this service will not display results where an individual changed his/her date of birth and was issued a new identity number.

In order to make use of this service, simply enter the first 10-digits of the identity number below:
